Beamish Museum
Beamish Museum is a world-famous open air museum which brings the history of North East England to life at its 1820s Pockerley, 1900s Town, 1900s Pit Village, 1940s Farm, 1950s Town and 1950s Spain’s Field Farm exhibit areas.
Visitors to the museum meet costumed folk and discover fascinating stories of everyday life in the region through time. Take a tram ride, enjoy a train ride on the steam waggonway, or glide around on the carousel at the fun fair. Immerse yourself in real, living history with the sights, smells and tastes of the region in days gone by.
Set in 350 beautiful acres, there’s something for everyone at Beamish Museum including a year-long, exciting events programme. The museum is the North East’s most visited attraction and was named as Art Fund Museum of the Year 2025.
